Granite Man Mountain Run (Saturday)   START TIME 9:00AM
This is an exceptional 11 mile trail run that takes you from Hart-Tish Park along the length of the Collings Mountain Trail and then back Hart-Tish Park. It is the first race in the popular USATF Oregon Mountain Running Series. You do not need to be a USATF member to participate but you get a $3 discount if you are. Granite Man awards are given race day and are completely separate from the USATF awards presented at the end of the series.

Beginning at Hart-Tish Park, the first 3.6 miles is along the beautiful Da-Ku-Be-Te-De Trail that wraps wonderfully around the western shore of Applegate Lake to Watkins Campground. You join Collings Mountain Trail and climb gradually for 5 miles traversing the western slope of Collings Mountain gaining 1,000 feet in elevation.  You are rewarded with excellent panoramic views of Applegate Lake and the Siskiyou Crest at several locations along the trail. Trees encountered along the trail include old growth Douglas fir, sugar pine, ponderosa pine, Pacific madrone, white oak and Saddler oak. The trail then drops steeply for the next 2 miles down to Grouse Creek. An abandoned miner’s cabin and an inactive Sasquatch trap are encountered. Several mine adits (tunnels with one entrance) are also found along the trail.  You cross Upper Applgate Road again and finish downhill to Hart-Tish Park. Breath in the mountain air and smile at your accomplishment!

NEW! Grouse Gap 5K Trail Run (Saturday)   START TIME 9:30AM
This is a very nice short trail run that starts at Hart-Tish Park, completes Grouse Loop trail, and finishes back at Hart-Tish Park. The trail begins with a steep uphill climb from the lakefront at Hart-Tish Park up to Upper Applegate Road. You cross Upper Applegate Road and after about 300 yards begin a gentle 1 mile uphill grade, gaining 700 feet in elevation, while traversing a shallow basin of old growth Douglas fir, Sugar pine and Ponderosa pine. From the ridge line, good views of Elliott Creek Ridge and Red Buttes are seen. Leaving the ridge line, the trail begins a moderate descent back to Hart-Tish Park through a mixed conifer and hardwood forest.

NEW! Granite Man 30K Trail Run (Saturday)    START TIME 8:30AM
Trail runners get ready for a treat! The very scenic 30K trail run begins at Hart-Tish Park and goes clockwise completely around the lake and finishes along the beach back at Hart-Tish Park. You are never far from the lake and the views along the route are fantastic. Participants will utilize 11.5 miles of single-track, 4 miles of pavement and 2.5 miles of forest roads that follow the fingered shoreline. It includes many short, moderately difficult climbs and a lot of very fun undulating terrain. There are two steeper climbs encountered which are about 0.25 mile long each. The single-track trail surface is mainly decomposed granite and you can expect some rocks and possibly windfall. There are numerous side streams you’ll cross on wooden bridges. All course intersections will be well marked. You do not need to be a USATF member to participate but you get a $3 discount if you are. Granite Man awards are given race day and are completely separate from the USATF awards presented at the end of the series.

NEW! Granite Man 60K Ultra Trail Run (Saturday)    START TIME 8:30AM
This is the ultimate trail run! The very scenic 60K course begins at Hart-Tish Park and goes clockwise completely around the lake….twice….and finishes along the beach back at Hart-Tish Park. You are never far from the lake and the views along the route are fantastic. Participants will utilize 11.5 miles of single-track, 4 miles of pavement and 2.5 miles of forest roads that follow the fingered shoreline. Granite Man Triathlon (Sunday)    START TIME 9:30AM
If you’ve had the opportunity to do other off-road triathlon courses, you’ll be pleased to find that there are none better than Granite Man. The 0.75 mile swim, 13 mile mountain bike and 5 mile run are very nice individual segments but, when put together, they add up to maximum fun! The views across the lake of the majestic peaks of the Red Butte Wilderness and surrounding Rogue River National Forest lands are spectacular. Applegate Lake is at its best this time of year – full with fresh spring run-off. You may compete as a Granite Man individual or as a three-person team with each team member doing one of the segments.

The 0.75 mile swim segment is in Applegate Lake and starts and ends at the Hart-Tish park beach. Hart-Tish is one of the few Forest Service parks with several acres of beautifully groomed lawn down to the water’s edge. Swimmers will start in one or two waves depending upon the number of participants. Wetsuits are recommended as water temperatures are expected to be in the mid 60’s.

The 13 mile mountain bike section starts at Hart-Tish Park and goes clockwise around the lake to Seattle Bar. At Seattle bar, participants will rack their bikes and complete the course with a 5 mile run back to Hart-Tish Park.

On the bike and run, participants will utilize 12 miles of single-track, 3.5 miles of pavement and 2.5 miles of forest roads that follow the fingered shoreline. It includes many short, moderately difficult climbs and a lot of very fun undulating terrain. There are two steeper climbs encountered which are about 0.25 mile long each. The trail is never too technical but it is definitely challenging. The single-track trail surface is mainly decomposed granite and you can expect some rocks and possibly windfall. There are numerous side streams you’ll cross on wooden bridges. All course intersections will be well marked.

Granite Man Duathlon (Sunday)    START TIME 9:00AM
This is hands down the best off-road duathlon course in Southern Oregon! It combines a 13 mile mountain bike segment and a 5 mile run segment which takes you completely around the gorgeous lake. You may compete as an individual or as a two-person team with each team member doing one of the segments.

The mountain bike section starts at Hart-Tish Park and goes clockwise around the lake to Seattle Bar. At Seattle bar, participants will rack their bikes and complete the course with a 5 mile run back to Hart-Tish Park. Participants will utilize 12 miles of single-track, 3.5 miles of pavement and 2.5 miles of forest roads that follow the fingered shoreline. It includes many short, moderately difficult climbs and a lot of very fun undulating terrain. There are two steeper climbs encountered which are about 0.25 mile long each.
